Programmes

Programmes in Arabic calligraphy and illumination built on gradual progression, practice, individual correction and the traditional ijaza system.

Maghrebi scripts

  • Mabsout panel: Ya Khafiyya al-Altaf

    Mabsout

Level: All levels — from the first exercise to the ijaza

The script of Maghrebi Qur’ans and the foundation of the Maghrebi school: single letters first, then words and lines, following the rules of the ijaza.

  • Mujawhar panel: a prophetic supplication

    Mujawhar

Level: All levels — from the first exercise to the ijaza

The flowing script of Moroccan letters and documents: from single forms to fine and monumental compositions.

  • Maghrebi Thuluth panel on black paper

    Maghrebi Thuluth

Eastern scripts

  • Ijaza piece in Ruq‘a (Hilya)

    Ruq‘a

Level: All levels — from the first exercise to the ijaza

    Diwani

    Level: Beginner to advanced

The supple, interlaced script of the imperial chanceries, taught step by step from letters to lines and compositions.

From first exercise to ijaza

The programme is built on patient learning, the transmission of craft, and precise control of letters and compositions — not on quick courses that only skim the surface.

The weekly rhythm

  1. Sunday

    Explanation & practice session

Live class on Zoom: letters and rules explained, then guided practice.

  2. Friday

    8 pm

    Correction & review session

Each student’s work is corrected individually and discussed.

How teaching works

  • Live classes on Zoom
  • Recorded sessions shared on Google Drive
  • Dedicated WhatsApp group for guidance and questions
  • Individual, continuous correction of work
  • Step-by-step progression according to each student’s level
  • Certificate of participation available

The traditional ijaza

The ijaza is granted when the required level of mastery is reached — not simply after a set period of time. It is the master’s testimony that the student has mastered the rules of the script and is qualified to write and teach it.
